We've planned and prepared our selves for almost a month. We set our ideas on our goal on Holy Week and guess what guys, we conquered not just one mountain but two. Not only that, we learn and earn more experience and see things in a different perspective.
Here's our adventure & exploration itinerary:
April 08, 2009, Wed
0430: Gathering at our house
0500: ETD to JAM Transit at Pasay
0530: ETA at bus station & ETD to Tambo, Batangas. We chose this jump off to ride another PUJ or Public Utility Jeep. the Bus will not turn to Cuenca because the bridge are under repair.
0700: ETA Tambo, Batangas, ride a PUJ going to Cuenca (PhP 10.00) and cross the under repair bridge at the right side and take another ride to Cuenca (PhP 12.00)
0800: ETA at B. Laqui Street, ride a tricycle up to the jump off (PhP 20.00) and make a stop over at the barangay Post to write your name on their list.
0810: ETA at the jump off, start trek, since it's Holy Week we decided to trek slowly and enjoy the climb since many Mountaineers and local people of the Batangas are descending the mountain. You could meet some vendors along the way, I think they had at least six (6) cool drink station, their selling Fresh chilled Buko (Coconut) Juice at the price of PhP 5.00. As long as you climb higher the price will do also :P The usual climb can be done in two hours at least, but why rush....
1115: Pitch tents & prepare meal, can goods and some pre-heat meals are all good to us.
1200: Lunch time!
1230: We bought some Halo-halo to cool off the heat.
1300: Explore the summit, rockies and the water source at the back of one of the stores but you have to climb down from there.
As we explore camp site and meet three people that we found talking to us, first it was Richard the owner of the first store that we saw upon arriving the camp site. Richard is very funny guy that talks a lot about everything under the sun.
Second is Sir Ed a natural Wildlife Prevention member but we call him Sir Kakashi because he always wear a mask like Kakashi of one of Animé characters in Naruto and when we ask him why wear a mask and he answered that he don't want his whitening supplement gone to waste, hehe.
And lastly but not the least we also met Sarah. She's an English Canadian, sweet and pretty. She likes taking pictures all that she sees and by the time she took our pictures we ask her if she's gonna post it on her blog site or something in common. She gave her link to her flickr account and boy oh boy, we've viewed it and guess what, she has tons of pictures to share or view. Good luck on your journey Sarah.
We also met a one big happy family on the camp site and again we forgot to ask their names but what we admire most is their kid a nine (9) year old boy whose been a mountaineer since his early year as 7 years old (I think). Well, I wouldnt be surprise if the kid is also into it because his parents are also mountaineers.
Before dawn, Jimi and Enan went to visit the rockies as the rest of guys prepare something to eat. Here's some pictures that they took...
Above: Enan, over looking at the dawn.
Above: Jimi's over looking at the rockies and the Taal Lake.1730: Prepare dinner
1800: Chow time!
1900: Explore the camp site and socialize
2000: Lights out... zzzzzzzzzzzz
April 09, 2009, Thu
0400: Wake up call
0430: Pack all things and cleaned our place, remember to segregate your trash.
0500: Take a snack or drink a cup of coffee at Richard's Store.
0515: Sun is up and time to go to the rockies
0600: Return to the camp site and packs on back, start descend.
0700: ETA at Mountaineers store, check all things and you can also take a shower here at only PhP 10.00, since we're on a hurry to catch the last trip of the boat to Tingloy Island we just change our upper garments and wipe our bodies with wet towels.
0800: ETA at the street of Cuenca, here we refill our water and bought some bread to eat along the way.
0815: ETD, ride a jeep going to Muzon (PhP 18.00)
0835: ETA at Muzon then we take another PUJ going to Talaga Port (PhP 12.00)
0900: ETA at the port of Talaga, here we wait for our other companions
1030: ETD to Pulang Bule, Santo Tomas, Tingloy Island, Batangas (fare is PhP 55.00)
1130: ETA at the port of Pulang Bule. The trip can be faster if the waves or the water is much calmer, 40-45 minutes is the fastest time arrival at the Tingloy.
1145: Unpack all things and enjoy the island, beach and the sun
We noticed that boat that you gonna ride can also take you at the front of your home like what they did to us since the house that we're gonna stay is just along the bay. The crew of the boat and the captain will carry all your heavy bags or belongings and bring them to the dry place of the port and not only that guys, they can also carry you if you don't wanna get your feet wet.
The sun is high, the water is fine, the waves are calmer now and as we stare the shore lines it was like were on another place in time. Picture this, we get our water from the well and electricity there has an schedule to supply all the island's power. If you wanna buy something from a store you need to walk along the bay and it will take you there in 15-18 minutes of walking. Whew, a good way to strut your legs huh?!
Ok guys, let's take a dip....
