Mount Mag-asawang Bato

Here's the third and last (but not the least) part of our Holy week adventure...

As our story continues, we decided to climb the Mount Mag-asawang Bato since we we're on the vicinity. We return to the jump off where we got off from the tricycle. We ask some locals there where or how to go to the peak of the mountain. They're very helpful to us especially the not so old lady (around 40-50 years of age) that we ask for the direction when we saw a wall that blocks our way to it. She told us that we have to go around the wall at the tree (mango tree i think) where a cow was tied unto it. We thank the lady and followed her directions. As we hike along the dried soil of the mountain we noticed some part of it where used to make coles. Some part of the mountain are used to shepherd their cows. You can also see some huge rocks along the ridge of the mountains that seems like it had been cemented there.



As we reached a fork trail we decided to splitm unto two groups as one us (that's Niel) will be in the middle to send as both a message. As I waited with Tonio on the first trail Enan and Egay traverse the trail on the right. We heard Enan shouts something and as Niel confirm what he shouted and it was he said about seeing a clearing or something. As we waited for another confirmation from Enan and Egay, the three us then decided to follow them. And as we reached the end of the wild grass and some dried branches we saw a clear view of the peak it self.

We saw Egay sitting at the grass about 30 feet away from us and that's we know why he doesnt heard us shouting for their confirmation and as for Enan his almost on the peak of the Mag-asawang Bato.

We then followed Enan as he tooks some pictures of us climbing the 75-80 degrees inlcination of the peak. As we reached the giant stones of the peak we then took our pictures there and Niel took a short clip of the giant stones. The stones can reach up to 25-35 feet in our observation. The circumference may be 18-22 feet and the view of the whole island is so beautiful from there. You can see the Anilao of Batangas, Mindoro and other islands that we dont know the names of them. But all of it in one perfect view and in one perfect harmony as mother nature amazed us once again.

Above: We took our pictures here in the middle of the two stones or once a single stone that cracked up in half and even if there's a leafless branches of a tree that blocks the view of our cameraman we just enjoy our little moment in there.

Note: To the right of us in the picture, there's a small path there that we can go through if there's wasn't much bushes and branches there. And we believe, maybe if we explore more of it, we could find there the giant clam as Tatay Dante told us. Is it a hoax? Well, it's up to us to discover.

After all that, we then decided to descend the mountain as our companions are waitng for us at the beach of Masasa. By the way we only climb it in less than an hour without our bags and we descend it for only 30-35 minutes from the peak to the beach shore.

As we gathered all our things we then all return to Pulang Bule. Tatay Dante learned from our companions that we explore the Mag-asawang Bato and he asked all five of us if we saw a giant clam. We all just stared in blank because we didnt know that there could be a giant clam on the mountain. He explained to us that the Tingloy island was onced under the water as they (locals) once believe. I remembered taht when we we're on the beach, Clare once told us that if we can see a giant clam on the peak of the mountain maybe we could search for the giant pearl but we take that as a joke since how could a giant clam be there up to now. Anyway, at least we have another reason to return to the mountain :P. But for now, it was all smiles for all of us as we prepare our things to go home for the next day (April 12, Sunday) as we will return to Manila and tell our adventures to our friends and families.

Five guys of Sanyapak in a five days journey to Mt. Maculot, Mt. Mag-asawang Bato, Pulang Bule Beach and the Masasa Beach. It's all sulit (worth it)!
